It's a BIRD, It's a PLANE, NO it's...

A BAT!!!

We went out to the garden to spray for some nasty cabbage worms and were greeted by 3 bats swooping down all around us catching tasty mosquitoes and who knows what else! I am so fascinated by these interesting little buggers (no puns intended) and think it's amazing that they fly around without seeing a thing and steer clear of bumps and bruises!

The kids have cast their votes and we all agree that it'd be awesome to have a bat house out in the back! Ok, way, way, waaaaaaaay back away from the house. Don't want anyone thinking our attic is for rent!

If you put a bat house out for them then they will leave the attics as long as it is worth leaving for. You have to be careful in choosing a Bat house and should do a little research in your area to see what may or may not work! Some of them can fit up to 200 at a time! Don't know that I'd like that one! Maybe a little less would be nice! Click on some of the links that I have put in here if you'd like to know more!

These pictures do not do them any justice, but it was fun trying to capture them in the dark of the night!

OK - I thought I was the only female fascinated by bats.... I have looked at the bathouses and thought about buying one, but just like many other things... I keep procrastinating...

SO cool. I bet the kids loved that. Bats are very interesting. Do you think they eat spiders? We have huge jumping spiders over here.

That would be pretty cool as long as they didn't attack or anything and it would be a plus if they ate all the mosquitos!
