The Bumblebee, the Witch and the Black Robe

Welcome to our new blog! FINALLY, it is ready. It took me long enough, I know, but I have been busy with sick kids (home everyday last week), being sick myself and getting Halloween together amongst other daily tasks.

About a year ago I came up with a BRILLIANT hair brain idea! To make matching witch costumes for my 2 gals, soon to be 3. Of course when you have a 4 year gap and you have been able to do projects without much interruption for awhile, it is easy to forget that a baby can slow you down. So, what originally would have taken me a few days to do, actually took me 2 weeks to do. But I think it all turned out great and the house stayed fairly clean during the project process. Maybe that's why it took me so long.

I made the tutus and put the ruffles on a dance leotard. My original idea was to sew the ruffles to the leotard, but decided to use a no-sew glue last minute (LOVE the stuff). That way when Halloween is over and they are tired of playing with their new costume I can wash it off and use the leotard for other things. I see future posts and tutorials in the near future. ;-) Look for a tutu tutorial soon. You can go to Ucreate to see the ruffle tutorial. If you have not been to this site, it is a MUST! I love it so much that I have a HUGE list of projects and ideas just from looking at all the cute and neat ideas.

Now onto the boys. I didn't make their costumes, but seeing as what they wanted was a bit more commercial, I was going to just buy it already done and save myself the headache.

Heath told me he wanted to be "Bumblebee" I thought "strange he doesn't seem like the bumblebee type."

Then a good friend of mine said, "I think he means the Transformer."

Ahhhh, now THAT'S my boy! And she was right.

Chad decided to be a grim reaper after we told him no gory outfits. His original plan was to be a zombie doctor, but I said "no" after seeing the costume. He decided on this skeleton mask cause the red one looked pink and blue is his favorite color. He reminds me of Skeletor. Please say you know who I am talking about or am I just showing my age here?

With all that said, and I am sure I can think of more if I sat here long enough) I will move on to the finale...pictures of the little cuties.

It is so funny to me how when boys get to a certain age they want to dress scarey! I can see Chad influenced Heath's choice this year. I think we still have Brendan's scarey mask. Your witch costumes are the cutest! Great Job!
