Joy of LOVE (Day 7 & 8)

Today at Joy of Love, the assignment is LOVE from the heart. Yesterday's was generations and since today's fit with yesterday's assignment, I decided to kill two birds with one stone by having this count for both, even if one is a day late. :)  I didn't think that I could arrange a get together with the in-laws, my husband and oldest child to get a good picture of three generations of first born sons, but today's subject totally inspired me to do something different and something I think is worthy of a post.

I thought long and hard about what it is that was given to me or done for me as "love from the heart". After going through several ideas of the material things that have been given, I decided that since they didn't go as well with adding value to the heart I would find something that would. I went with something that happend recently melting my heart and bringingt a tear to my eye.

For those who may not know, my mother died when I was 5 years old. The same age as my youngest son is right now. It was 27 years ago. That is a long time to be without a mother and to be so young and not knowing her the same way my older siblings did sometimes fills my heart with sadness, but the other day the kids were watching a cartoon that had a character playing an accordian. My husband later on, hearing them talking about the musical instrument, said "Did you know your Grandma played that when she was in high school?"

It took me a minute to realize that he was talking about my mother and for some reason it just pierced my heart with gratitude and love for my dear husband who has taken the time over the many years of us being married, to know who my mother is through others eyes and pictures. He cares enough about me and my family to know those details that may be insignificant to others, but make her more real to all of us so that my children will know her as best as they can in this life on earth. For that gift I am forever grateful. I think there couldn't be a better token of love for Valentine's then this love that he has shown for me. Thank you dearest! I am sure my mother is grateful to have her memory live on just as I am.

My breath was taken away. So very important for your kids to know their grandma. Shawn's mom passed away when Savannah and Christian were little and we take every opportunity to talk about Grandma Vicki... everytime her name is mentioned I can see the gratitude on Shawn's face. It IS important for you to see and hear your mom remembered! Wonderful job Tyson!!
