Here there be monsters...

Those big ugly monsters didn't eat, sleep, or play...always waiting for me to come and try to conquer them as they slowly devoured my time and energy, but I fought and fought until I CONQUERED! What monsters might I be talking of...my school projects! I whooped those time suckers tails! I received the highest grade possible with my Interior Design teacher who gives out an S+ as much as Simon Cowell gives a compliment!

I had my Board Review last night at 8:30! It went really well and it was a lot more relaxed then I thought it would be thoooouuuuugh I was told there'd be 5 board members and there ended up being 12!!! I am glad it is all over with and that I can now move on to other monsters that need some taming...like the laundry pile monster, bathroom germs, clutter titan, and the worst yet...fighting kids that are home for summer!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright I will get serious now! I have my projects all on my Shabby2Chic site which is for my future decorating consulting business(I am getting together) and related hobbies! If there are any awesome ideas you might have for things I should post about or things you would like to see or know, please feel free to leave a comment. Even if you don't know me from Adam...you can still comment. I'd like to see what people of all walks of life like or think!!!

I just wanted to say...

I DID IT! I AM DONE!!!! I finished my last class tonight! FREEDOM! Now I can have a long awaited social life, but I am very grateful that I had this opportunity and a husband and family members that saw a talent that I thought maybe I had, but was unsure of it all and they really encouraged me to do it in the first place! I am proud of myself for sticking through all the hardships and still trying to put out my best work because I have learned a lot and have grown tremendously!

I don't have time to post pics and all just yet, but will tomorrow or Wednesday! I just thought I'd share the excitement felt here at the Horrock's Home!!!

Of course it ain't over til the "Fat Lady Sings!!!" I still have the board review to do in July(the 29th and 31) and present all my work and then they vote on whether or not I shall be initiated in their Design Program! But for now I am DANCIN' IN THE STREETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I can, I think I can...

I have 3 weeks of 2 classes, 4 weeks of 1 class, less than 3 weeks till the wedding reception I am planning and a full and busy summer of scout camp (one week without my hubby), boy scout day camp, 2 vacations, Myrtle Beach and Jesup, GA...can't wait for JESUP!!! That is the only vacation that I leave feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world! May be it has to do with the fact that we will be with my Dad and that we are CONSTANTLY out doors, which I LOVE, especially there....even though it's hotter than the devils dwelling...and quite bit more humid than here!!!

I am like that little train going up hill! So many things going on and so many things that are challenging. Stretching me like taffy! I guess I wouldn't learn much without all the stretching! :) But through it all I have had an amazing and supportive husband! I say this in adoration and gratitude toward my man! Not in any way trying to make my life (or hubby) look or seem perfect in any way. I am soooo not like that! I can tell ya right now, my hubby could never stand over the pulpit and say I have always supported him without complaint...though like most people who do say such things, he might forget with age and actually say it! :) Of course I couldn't say the same about him either...hee hee hee! But he has taken the kids, let me emphasize ALL of the kids on a few long grocery trips when I was in the middle of all my projects or at school and couldn't go my self (great! There goes any of my excuses to go without the kids!) He has cooked and cleaned waay more than I have ever seen him do, given baths, he helped run kids here and there and still keeping up with his very busy calling at church! So, thank you, thank you, Tys for being so supportive in the things that I choose to do and urging me to go back to school. It's not very often that I am able to just do what I want to do and doing a 2 year program in a year has been trying, but I think that when I look back on it all I will be glad because I have learned and have grown so much! I will also be free again! I can be a full-time mommy again! I can't tell you how much I have missed that! I used to wish that I could be more pro-active in the community or have a career and make "something" of myself, but through all of this hustle and bustle I have realized where my priorities lie and they aren't outside of the home! My time now is to be a mother and I wouldn't mind doing a few things here and there, but I want to make sure that my kids and hubby(and I guess myself too) are taken care of first and that I don't try to do too much because I think that is easy to do when we live in a society where our talents and efforts can take us far! Of course, does it really make us happy? Does it really fill that empty void for validation? I have been learning that loving who you are and loving and being kind to others are what really fill any voids we may feel within our own lives.
I hope this makes sense. I am not sure that I could fully convey all the things that I have been learning through all of this, but more than anything I just wanted my hubby to know that his love and efforts are not unseen!

1 project down and 10 million more to go!

I got this hair brain idea to do this project from my friend, B's blog (she has some great things that she makes). I showed it to my friend, M, who loved it too and we have been working on it since January. I am just so psyched that I FINALLY have it done and hung up! We have worked on it here and there, but today I was so close to getting it done that after I had to leave M's house I decided to get the kids busy doing something for quiet time and finished!!!Now I have to go back to the school work, but the escape was fun while it lasted!
I have to say that I am kinda bugged with the initials for me and dear hubby, but I won't bother changing them now. I think that they might look better with our name initials, not for mom and dad!:) What do you think?

We would've had it done a lot sooner, but we both have been crazy busy with sick kids or everyday things as well as my school and her very busy calling as the Enrichment Counselor in her ward. It also took us awhile to figure out what we wanted to do for the tags and I had to search for the right molding for mine. It was fun to hang out, let the kids play and have adult conversation while doing something worthwhile! :) And to see two different styles emerge from the same project! Sorry this pic isn't that great, but it was hard to get good lighting, so I had to use the flash!

Spring Break in a nutshell and in Pictures!!!

This has been a busy, but FUN Spring Break. The kids have all enjoyed time with friends and some family!

We will start with last Friday! My kids were so excited that their newest cousin finally decided to grace us with her presence. My girls and surprisingly even Chad kept wanting a turn at holding her. We'll just say that if it ain't a ball, Heath ain't too interested! Isn't she cute?

I had to present my Architecture Project on Monday (no break from that class) and we did it informally to the teacher like he was our client and had to walk him through the loft we designed for Indiana Jones. It wasn't a hardlined project so it's not as neat and orderly as it would be if it were the final draft. He is saving that for our last project which is apparently BIG!!! But it was refreshing and fun to do something different for a project and on a character I have always thought was cool growing up! This pic of me is the week before because I had forgotten that we didn't get a break from the architecture class and that was the night we worked on Interior Elevations for our plan. I really liked that!

We had an Easter egg hunt with a few friends, which was tons of fun! Chad isn't really into that, but he loved hiding the eggs with several of the other big boys! I had to convince Heath that he wanted to find some eggs. He was more interested in the swing...boys! :)

Tys took off work on Thurs. and Fri. We had fun walking at Bridgestreet. The kids saw Maggie Moos Ice cream Shop and we decided that with the amount you had to pay there that we'd all go and pick out our own half gallon of ice cream and a topping each and be satisfied for more than a week! It turned out to be loads of fun! Then we picked up Alyssa's friend and went bowling and out to eat at Lone star! We had lots of fun and laughter as we tried hitting the pins and watching Heath and his victory dances!

Friday we weeded our lovely weed beds and bid farewell to Tys and Chad as they went to a camp out with the scouts! So, the girls and I had fun watching a Barbie movie and eating ice cream. Then my lovely H and her fiance B came over with some friends so she and I could talk wedding plans and then we played some Wii and chatted. It was nice to have some hang out time!

Then on Saturday we celebrated Heath-y's b-day after my men came home and took showers to get the smoke smell off of them. We made homemade cupcakes and homemade icing, then sat and watched Heath's favorite movie "The Incredibles"! It was so nice to spend that time together! Poor Bria was sick with a high fever that left as quickly as it came on with no other symptoms...aren't viruses weird?

I hope that everyone had a great Spring Break and that they were able to make lots of memories too!
